Side Effects

Xanax is a medication which is a member of the benzodiazepine family which is widely used as an anti anxiety medicine. They are widely prescribed for patients suffering from bipolar disorders, mental problems and manic
depression. Alprazolam is the generic name for Xanax. It is known to cause side effects. The two types of side effects and common and rare side effects.

Some of the commonly observes common side effects due to Xanax are dizziness, speech disorder, clumsy feeling, feeling drowsy and so on. Abdominal disorders, blurred vision, dry mouth, persistent thirst, changed
sexual feelings, drowsiness, headache, nauseas, etc are the rare side effects due to Xanax. Some people also seem to have problems with body stiffness, running nose, lung infection, menstrual disorders, no appetite, tremors, change in weight, tiredness and laziness. As soon as a patient witnesses any of these symptoms, it is highly recommended that they seek immediate medical help.

It is also known to cause some serious side effects like anxiety, rapid heartbeat, depression, confused mind; loss of memory etc. there can be some unexplained change in behavior and patients seems to have no control
over their behavior. They can explode with anger without any reason. Most patients tend to discontinue the medication as soon as they witness any of these problems. But, this is not recommended as this can aggravate the condition. Such an action can be followed by sleep troubles, nervousness, cramps in the abdomen, highly sensitive to touch and pain, cramps, burning feeling, body shaking, hallucination, being suspicious etc.

Common side effects are perfectly normal for people who start to take this medication and hence there is nothing to worry. Once the person gets used to it, the frequency and intensity of such disorders gradually decreases and
finally ceases. An increased dosage of consumption can result in aggravated side effects.
